This is APG's why, our social mission. It is about a future in which we share prosperity and well-being sustainably. Although we are the silent force behind the funds, we dedicate ourselves every day to the people around us. That's what we do it for.

We work for employers and participants. The participants can be divided into three groups; active (building up pension), retired and dormant (participation terminated, but still pension entitlements).
Retired Hetty Schreurs worked as an English teacher for 42 years. She spends her old age with taking care of the grandchildren. This is where she finds routine and happiness. Hetty about her pension: “I know that there are a lot of complaints about pensions, not indexing and cutting back, but I am really satisfied with ABP and how you do your work at APG. I never have to worry about my money not being in my bank account and that is a great thing!”
Retired René Brokerhof, former GGD director, took early retirement and had his own research and consultancy firm for another ten years. “I thought being retired is always a holiday. Well, it's not. Life goes on, but with less requirements. My agenda is really a lot emptier than I expected. My experience with APG is great. You provide carefreeness for us elderly and that is fantastic.”
Theo Janssen worked at the Peel en Maasvallei Water Authority in Venlo and has been enjoying his ABP pension since August 2018. In addition to practicing his hobbies (gardening, sculpting, playing the accordion and traveling with the camper), Theo spends his time renovating his home, to make it energy-neutral as possible. His experience with the pension (fund) is positive and as expected, because he had had a calculation made in advance. “My compliments to both ABP and APG!”
Tom Meijer works at the rental administration of housing corporation Vivare in Arnhem. He also has his own administrative office. He is building up a pension at SPW. Tom isn't worried about "the future." Tom: “No. I know what to expect and I am happy with that. I will lose part of my pension because of a divorce, but I will still be able to live a fairly normal life.”
I am a director at the Pension Fund Work and (re)Integration. We provide the pensions of all employees with a distance to the labor market to which no other pension scheme applies. All employers in Sheltered Employment are affiliated with us. APG takes care of the complete administration for our fund and the communication towards our participants and employers. And that means that all our participants immediately experience the services of APG.
Yos Hopman is employment conditions officer at the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer. She has been the municipality's point of contact for pension fund ABP for years. Yos: “Pension is a employment benefit that involves a lot of money, but also a benefit of employment that is not given daily attention. Retirement is still a long way off for many. In a way that is contradictory, because the ABP pension scheme arranges so much more.”
