Expanding our infrastructure around the world

Businesses, government organizations, and policy makers around the world want a hyperscale cloud that delivers the cloud, their way. We help businesses and governments build quickly, securely, and cost effectively with the next generation of infrastructure designed to meet their specific workload and industry needs.

Our global infrastructure — including our network of 39 Google Cloud regions — is the foundation of this capability, delivering high-performance, low-latency cloud-based services to customers in more than 200 countries and territories. Over the past year, we  announced plans to add cloud regions across APAC (including New Zealand and Thailand) and EMEA (in places like Kuwait, South Africa, and Sweden), and delivered on commitments in Tel Aviv (Israel), Turin (Italy), Doha (Qatar), and Berlin-Brandenburg (Germany). 

Today, we’re sharing updates on our ongoing work to bring Google Cloud to customers around the world. 

Greece 
The future Google Cloud region in Greece will be located in Athens. When it opens, the region will help accelerate the country’s digital transformation and sustainable growth. 

Mexico 
We confirmed earlier this year that the Google Cloud region in Mexico will be located in Querétaro, helping us meet growing demand for cloud services in the country across industries. When operational, the Querétaro region will be our third cloud region in Latin America, alongside existing regions in Santiago and São Paulo.

Aotearoa New Zealand
Our first Aotearoa New Zealand cloud region will be located in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. When it launches, the region will help Kiwi businesses drive their digital transformations locally with speed, security, and scalability.

Norway
Announced last year, our upcoming cloud region in Norway will be located in Oslo, supporting growing demand for Google Cloud services from businesses and public sector organizations in the country.

Saudi Arabia 
In 2020, we announced plans to deploy and operate a cloud region in Saudi Arabia, where a local strategic reseller, CNTXT, will offer Google Cloud Platform services to businesses in the Kingdom. In 2021, we shared that the region would be located in Dammam. 

Today, we’re announcing the Dammam cloud region is now open, providing businesses operating in the Kingdom and in the Middle East high-performance, low-latency cloud services. This milestone is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting digital transformation across the Middle East, following our launch in Doha and plans to bring a region to Kuwait. 

Sweden
We continue to build our upcoming cloud region in Sweden. With single-digit latency to the Stockholm metropolitan area, this region will benefit customers across Sweden, including Nordics companies Telia and SEB.

As we add Google Cloud regions globally, we’ll continue to engage with our customers to deliver the solutions they need to solve their most complex problems. This includes working to build a more sustainable future with opportunities for everyone. 

We support customers with low-carbon options to run their applications and infrastructure. Google was the first major company to match 100% of our annual electricity consumption with renewable energy in 2017 and every year since. We’re now pursuing net-zero emissions across our operations and value chain by 2030, supported by an ambitious goal to run our entire business on carbon-free energy on an hourly basis. 

We’re also committed to harnessing the power of technology to advance human rights where we operate. Recently, we shared an update on how we’re strengthening our programmatic approach to human rights, including how due diligence informs our planning when we expand Google Cloud infrastructure into new countries.
