More businesses are looking to the Cloud for security. What’s changed?
The increasing demand for agility is no longer the primary driver of Cloud adoption among enterprises around the world: A global report on the growing confidence in Cloud security, conducted by MIT SMR Custom Studio for Google Cloud, points to security as another major reason for the adoption of cloud solutions today.
Changing perspectives
In fact, MIT’s research found that agility and security are equally important drivers for adopting Cloud security. As security used to be a number one reason not to move to the cloud, this survey signals a major change in client demand. IT leaders polled in this survey recognize that aspects of public cloud can actually enhance security. Teams at Google Cloud are seeing more of this as we consult with business and IT leaders.
75% of business and IT leaders indicated they’ve become more confident in Cloud security over the past two years, coinciding with an increase in enterprise workloads they are running in the Cloud. Prior to the survey they moved 24% of workloads to the Cloud, with an anticipated 65% of workloads running in the Cloud two years from now. The following reasons were cited as most relevant for this expansion:
-
Agility - 45%
-
Security - 44%
-
Cost savings - 34%
